‘The Seagull’ Costume Designs
Sample of work from a course project for Transformative Design Spring 2020, taught by Dede Ayite. After researching Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’, designers responded with a packet of theoretical costume designs complete with casting and multiple sketches per character. My costume packet explores ‘The Seagull’ in the imagined setting of a rusted fallout shelter. As the theoretical play progresses, the characters must confront or reject the reality of both internal and external surroundings. Time progresses in fragmented and reactive forms as conversation continues between scenes. Themes of decay, hyper realities, and artificial vibrancy web throughout my costume designs above.
